Our Mission

The Consumer Action Network is focused on improving the lives of American consumers through grassroots advocacy of state and local policies that expand customer choice. This means championing smart rules and reforms that empower American consumers and families with lower prices, more choices and greater convenience on an everyday basis. 

We work with consumers to raise awareness about how rules and regulations in their communities affect them and inform local discussions about commonsense solutions for improving policies so that they save consumers time and money and make their lives easier on a daily basis. 

We help to amplify the voices of consumers so that they are the driving force in shaping policies in their communities that determine when, where and how they can buy the products they need and want. 


Amplifying Consumer Voices

CAN amplifies consumer voices by engaging on digital and social media platforms and through traditional earned media venues. We play an active role in shaping policies by educating local communities about what’s at stake in key policy debates and helping them effectively communicate their views and opinions with lawmakers – all based on the principle that civic engagement in our communities is paramount in shaping smart and effective state and local policies.
