Support HB 6101 and help bring your favorite beer selections and more convenience to large retailers in Connecticut!

LET’S MODERNIZE CONNECTICUT’S OUTDATED RETAIL LAWS

Connecticut remains one of a few states that requires retailers to have a majority of their sales from “grocery items” such as food to be able to sell beer to customers. A new bill in the Connecticut legislature (HB 6101) would help shoppers are find their favorite beer selections at some large retailers in their communities, such as Walmart or Target.

BRING ONE-STOP SHOPPING TO CONNECTICUT

Connecticut consumers have more convenient and affordable options than ever before when it comes to shopping for food and other groceries. Target and Walmart top the list of shoppers’ favorite places to purchase groceries outside of traditional grocery stores.

State laws should keep up with the modern demands and evolving tastes of Connecticut consumers to provide greater convenience and save time and money for busy families — and HB 6101 would do just that.

LET’S PROUDLY PROMOTE CONNECTICUT BREWERIES

Craft breweries are a rapidly growing industry in Connecticut, and the number of local breweries has more than doubled since 2014. Allowing Connecticut’s large retailers to stock their shelves with beer can showcase the state’s local breweries alongside the most popular national brands. More Connecticut shoppers will be able get a taste of what our state has to offer and support the continued growth of this emerging industry.

KEEP TAX DOLLARS IN CONNECTICUT

The economic impact of beer sales in Connecticut ranks in the bottom half of the country. Some shoppers are forced to drive to nearby New York or Massachusetts to pick up beer if they are unable to find their favorite selection at large retailers in Connecticut.

When consumers shop out of state for beer, those are tax dollars that could be used to fund infrastructure repairs, emergency services and other critical public benefits for Connecticut communities.
