Help bring your favorite wine and beer selections to grocery stores in Massachusetts!
LET’S MODERNIZE MASSACHUSETTS’ OUTDATED WINE AND BEER LAWS
100 years have passed since Prohibition, but Massachusetts still has outdated laws on its books that are preventing many grocery stores in our communities from selling wine and beer. Under current rules, the state caps the number of stores at which a given retailer can sell wine and beer, leaving consumers with fewer options for finding their favorite selections.
MASSACHUSETTS OFFICIALS AGREE: IT’S TIME TO UPDATE STATE RULES
The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission recently recommended removing limits that are keeping most grocery and food stores from selling wine and beer in their stores and streamlining the licensing process for retailers. Officials understand that we need to keep up with the pace of innovation and changing consumer preferences by eliminating these Prohibition-era rules.
SUPPORT THE BAY STATE’S PROMISING CRAFT WINE AND BEER INDUSTRIES
Massachusetts’ first-class craft beer and wine industries have taken off in recent years, with the number of Bay State breweries doubling in the past five years alone and our wineries supporting hundreds of workers across the state. By allowing more grocery stores to carry their products, we can support these growing industries and help provide necessary stability at a time of great uncertainty for these small, independent businesses.
HELP REFORM THIS BROKEN SYSTEM
Now, a proposed ballot measure would reform Massachusetts’ outdated laws. Visit petition.foodstores2020.org to learn how you can help bring the sale of wine and beer to your local grocery and food stores.
